Climate scientists: Earth is not at risk of becoming a hothouse like Venus, as Stephen Hawking claimed – This is a big deal to me. Hawkings is a physicist, I don’t think climate scientists see the BIG energy picture. The PNAS “Earth Space Battery” article linked below says that earth is in danger of losing its atmosphere, because trees are biogenic solar batteries that enable our atmosphere, when they go, so does our atmosphere, and the vacuum of space will descend upon the earth. Their words, not mine. When you combine this with magnetic pole flip, then you talking serious atmospheric depletion. But even if we lost our atmosphere, then all earth has to do is pop a few super-volcanoes and presto, Venus! I don’t believe the earth will be fine without us. Upper tropospheric vapor is heading into runaway mode, which once started, is an irreversible, unstoppable feedback loop with unforeseeable consequences. Now back to the meme war, but first…

If we stopped emitting greenhouse gases right now, would we stop climate change? – “as the oceans’ heating catches up with the atmosphere, the Earth’s temperature would rise about another 0.6℃. Scientists refer to this as committed warming.” – it is physically impossible to stop human emissions and we are unable to reduce atmospheric carbon at the required scale. No one thing is enough. We have to do everything all at once all over the world, and I can barely stand the holidays with my family.

I’ve been watching Glow, the women wrestling series on Netflix. It’s about a little girl who lets a big girl jump on her. It’s funny as fuck. To understand our emissions predicament, watch a few minutes of the woman named Starry in the first video, the little girl. Then just watch a few seconds in the next video, the big girl. China has more steel and cement capacity than they know what to do with, and steel and cement pretty much account for the largest share of emissions, along with food.
